Most (90%) visitors fly into San Juan and rent a car and drive over. Most times there are more flights to choose from at a cheaper price. The roads are good and the drive to the west coast is easy, and takes about 3 hours.
You may also want to spend a day or night at the beginning or end of your stay to explore Old San Juan and see all that it has to offer. There is direct access to the west coast by flying into either Aguadilla or Mayaguez airports. That way you get to spend more time on the beach! Raphael Hernandez Airport in Aguadilla (airport code BQN) is larger and has more flights.
You can also try the Mayaguez (code MAZ) airport, but recently there are very few flights flying direct into Mayaguez..You can also check the best connecting flights from other cities by using Travelocity or other travel site to see if there is convenient connecting service from your city to Aguadilla (airport code BQN) –
